Voile is made from 100% cotton or cotton blends and so takes dyes well. This means that there are a wide range of different patterns and colours available. Voile can be used as a single, fine dressing for a window and has a semi-transparent quality that can provide privacy without blocking out too much light. Voile can also be layered to create elegant window drapes or can be laid over another fabric to provide more privacy and less light. If you are creating lightweight voile window treatments at home then you will need to use specially manufactured heading tape as the semi-transparent nature of the fabric will mean that standard tape will be too noticeable.

You can mix and match voile fabrics to create a number of stunning effects to enhance different styles of room. Black is a popular colour for voile as it can be paired with another colour/pattern to create different effects. For example black paired with silver can look very elegant and sophisticated and will enhance modern room design. Black paired with red can create a dramatic effect ideal for rooms with strong interior styles.

Voiles can be created to suit different drops (including full length and sill length) and are versatile and adaptable window treatments. The cotton can be blended with other materials such as linen and by layering the voile or laying it over a second fabric you can create a number of different effects from delicate sheer drapes through to modern minimalist curtains that will enhance any room.
